Feeding In the Womb

Through the uteroplacental system, a fetus’s blood glucose is regulated.

  • At any maternal blood glucose concentration, Uteroplacental glucose uptake is a function of the fetus’s blood glucose concentration.

  • Glucose uptake into fetal tissues is regulated by glucose transporters.
